Great Television Moment: Reps Anthony Weiner And Peter King Battle Over 9/11 Aid

video

Anthony Weiner and Peter King have all the makings of that classic tv sitcom trope: two guys that get on each others nerves, but really are just good pals. They’ve much in common: both represent New York in congress, representing both different districts and political parties. And both want to honor and aid those who have sacrificed in our hour of need. But they seem to really disagree over the specifics – in this case, the process by which first responders to 9/11 can receive aid.

William Shatner Interviews The D.C. Sniper, Mary Kay Letourneau And More

William Shatner (yes, that William Shatner) interviews one of the D.C. snipers Lee Boyd Malvo, the teacher in the student relationship that lasted Mary Kay Letourneau and more for his new Biography Channel show, Aftermath. The next logical question - why? - is interesting: Shatner will look at the "aftermath" of media stars, past their moment in the spotlight.

Jersey Shore Returns! Angelina Is “Classy,” Ronnie Is “Sloppy Joe”

recap

Jersey Shore is back, and the crew of non-Jerseyites have moved south to Miami, bitch (that will happen all season). Yesterday we worried if self-awareness would pervade the show, and the fact that the four biggest stars (Jwoww, Snooki, The Situation and Pauly D) were barely involved in the episode one plot proved it true so far. But the crew still made a big mess, so all was forgiven.

Mother Jones Criticizes Media For Helping BP “Pretend There’s No Oil” In The Gulf

An AFP story Tuesday ran with the headline, "Gulf focus shifts, but where is all the oil?" The story essentially states that while clean-up efforts are in full swing after the well was finally capped, the crews are not finding very much oil in the Gulf; they're actually wondering where it has gone. Well, Mother Jones has a response: it hasn't gone anywhere. In fact, MoJo is criticizing the media for its reporting on the situation.

PBS Defends ‘Palinese’ Segment Mocking Sarah Palin

video

Who'd have guessed. Apparently some PBS watchers are also Sarah Palin supporters. Or at least Sarah Palin sympathizers. Comedian Andy Borowitz, in his short, funny segment that appears at the end of Jon Meacham's 'Need to Know' PBS news show, this week made fun of Sarah Palin. Specifically he mocked her 'Palinese' and speculated what the country would look like when she became president in 2012, per the 'Mayan Prophecy Weekly'.
